We thought it would be apt for our debut Blog post, to share the story of Celestine Retreat.
The property that is known as Celestine Retreat was created based upon the ideals in the book "The Celestine Prophecy" by James Redfield, in the sense that Celestine Retreat has been built on 30 acres of natural beauty which has magnified quantities of natural energy and is one of Earth's special places. Many of our guests are delighted to discover their favourite book has a place not only named after, but is quintessential in keeping with the Celestine Prophecy.
"Awaken", "Insight", "Enchant" and "Mystique" are our four Chalets which have names relating to the book and the ideas expressed within it, all of the Chalets are hexagonal in shape and have a unique way of retaining energy, similar to pyramids and teepees. With wrap around verandahs, our guests can relax and take in the magnificent view. The gardens around each Chalet have been carefully planted to give each Chalet a sense of privacy and to attract birdlife. The Chalet construction was started in October 1999 and completed in December 1999, the first guests, Jackie and her husband, arrived in January 2000. Jackie and her husband recently returned to stay with us, they were impressed with the difference the expansion of the gardens and tree planting has made.
Celestine Retreat is located high on Mt Shadforth in Denmark, Western Australia with breathtaking views over Wilson Inlet, the Southern Ocean, Karri Trees, valleys and views to Mt Hallowell and only 4 kilometres from the centre of the charming town of Denmark.
We have approximately 5 acres of gardens, the gardens together with the Chalets enhance the natural beauty of the property. Sherri who managed Celestine Retreat for 8 years, shared her passion for gardening by enhancing and adding to the existing beds, she cleverly created points of interests, by using a combination of Australian natives and ornamentals, the gardens are attractive to birds, frogs, bees, butterflies and are enjoyed by most of our guests. During Sherri's time here, the Veggie Patch, Fish Pond and Garden Room were constructed and planted with many plants grown from cuttings, the gardens will continue to evolve. The small stone fruit and citrus orchards were part of the original garden, this together with seasonal produce from the veggie garden, is shared with our guests.
